Services Air Monitoring/4-Stage Clearance
Independent and UKAS Accredited (No. 9102) Asbestos Air Testing Service
Have you completed an asbestos removal project or has asbestos been disturbed at your site?
We are UKAS Accredited (No. 9102) for the sampling and analysis of airborne asbestos fibre concentration. We bring our air monitoring service to you anywhere in the UK with a mobile fleet of laboratories, allowing paperwork such as air monitoring/ clearance certificates to be issued immediately following works, saving our clients time and money.
Air monitoring and fibre counting are the procedures used to determine the presence of asbestos fibres within the air within a specific test location. The inhalation of asbestos fibres can cause serious health problems. As a result, it is essential to monitor the fibre levels in the air in areas where asbestos may be present, such as during removal or remediation work. We offer several types of air monitoring:
Our UKAS Accredited Asbestos Air Monitoring Service Includes:
Four Stage Clearance Testing
This type of air monitoring is required after licensed asbestos removal work. The 4-stage clearance process involves a preliminary check of the site conditions, a thorough visual inspection inside the enclosure or work area, air monitoring and a final assessment after the enclosure or work area has been dismantled. Only after a successful visual inspection and clearance monitoring can an area be classed as safe to re-enter.
Reassurance Air Testing
Reassurance sampling is usually conducted following an asbestos ‘incident’, when material may have been inadvertently disturbed or discovered after asbestos removal (eg during and/or after the removal of the enclosure after completion of the 4-stage clearance). Reassurance monitoring provides reassurance that the area is safe for reoccupation.
Leak Testing
During asbestos removal operations, this form of air monitoring is conducted outside the asbestos enclosure to verify the effectiveness of control measures and prevent asbestos fibre dispersion into the surroundings. Elevated readings from leak monitoring serve as an early indicator of potential asbestos fibre release from the enclosure, allowing prompt intervention to prevent further contamination.
Background Air Tests
Background air testing measures ambient fibre levels within an area and is useful in establishing baseline fibre levels which can be compared to results taken during and after removal projects.
Personal Air Monitoring
This type of testing is carried out on the removal operatives to assess the levels of airborne asbestos fibres present in the breathing zone of the operative. This allows us to assess the exposure levels of the operative to ensure they are adequately protected and the control measures in place are suitable and effective in preventing the inhalation of asbestos fibres. Our comprehensive personal monitoring service helps to create a safer working environment for all individuals involved in asbestos-related work.
