Bulk Sample Analysis

Clyde Environmental Consultants have a laboratory-based in Bellshill near Glasgow. We hold UKAS accreditation for the analysis of bulk samples to identify all of the six regulated asbestos fibre types in accordance with the HSE document Asbestos: The analysts' guide for sampling, analysis and clearance procedures. Clyde environmental operates a pre-arranged ‘same-day turnaround’ service whereby samples are received in the morning and the report e-mailed to the client by the end of the day. Our turnaround time depends on clients' needs and varies from 1 Hour for an urgent sample up to 5 days for non-urgent samples. The cost of Analysis varies as per the timeframe.

Over time, more than 3,000 products have been developed that contain asbestos; a great many of these were used in the building trade. The only way to be sure whether a material contains asbestos is to have it analyzed.

Bulk sample analysis involves the examination of a representative sample of a material thought to contain asbestos.

We use a combination of low power stereo and polarised light microscopy (PLM) to provide identification of the six regulated asbestos types:

  • Amosite (Grunerite)
  • Crocidolite
  • Fibrous Tremolite
  • Fibrous Anthophyllite
  • Fibrous Ac (Actinolite)
  • Fibrous Ac ( Actinolite)
